New Snow :-)

It snowed a little last night and this morning so it made it kind of nice, not so dry and slippery on

the steep parts. I was just about 5 min slower than when Linda was running up the other day up that one long grueling hill, but I didn't take any breaks until 2hr. then I took 5min and that's the only break, well except to take a couple pics:-) I started early 7am and I thought oh I am going to be the first one up there this morning but I bumped in to this guy and his dog, Wilson. They were RUNNING down. Then a woman was running down when I started back down. They must be nuts!!! It looked like the Lady was trying to peek out but not really in this picture.
This tree and the wild flowers are starting to pop:-)
Oh, yea this is from Rainbow Ridge again:-) total 4 hrs. 9.3 miles its kind of hard to push myself when their isn't someone in front going faster, I get kind of sidetracked looking at stuff. Its like stuff says Look over here, Look at me:-)

Rainbow Ridge Revisited:-)

This morning we were going to meet up at Bunny Flats, we were going to go up on Mt. Shasta today but Linda decided the weather was coming in, so she decided we would do Rainbow Ridge, but WAY farther than we did the first time with her, towards the end of the hike it was looking crummy up there.

Linda and me and this next one is me and Annie Bowles, she did the Climb Against Odds in 2004, she is another one who has been so supportive, I had been emailing and talk to her on the phone but said hi at yoga, but this was the first time I got to spend some time with her, it was very nice:-)

even though Linda really pushed us. Round trip it took 3:18 and we went 7.85 miles. Sooooooo proud:-)

This tree really wanted his picture taken :-)

Castle Crags

This is what we did for our Long Weekly training hike yesterday, Julie our GPS geekgirl map maker plotted our trail. We didn't come in at the park, we came in below that so it made it longer. We went 9.1 miles and climbed 2600 feet in elevation - go team!!! There was Linda our team leader Julie and her husband Wolf and Karen who is training with us and will climb at a later date than us. She is in excellent shape. The more the merrier. I kept up with everybody pretty much sooooooo proud:-)

Its hard to see but there is a railing I am holding on to that prevents you from falling, sorta:-) Its really steep drop down.

This is on the way down.
I got donations from Jim Nile, Cliff Cornutt, Frank Del Carlo, and Diane Strachan, THANKS GUYS:-)

Today is the big Red Hats Founders Day Luncheon.

Lower Energy Level

P.T. appt. at the Wellness Center with Sandy Skiff on Friday went well, I like her :-) she said to do the Quad Sets.

Gently tense muscle on top of thigh.
Hold 10 seconds.

All exercises should be repeated 30 times. Two sessions per day are recommended. It may be helpful to apply ice for 15 minutes after the exercises. Well, she said start with 20. When I went there I thought maybe she would tell me I couldn't do the climb. Kind of scary. She said More bike less Stair Climber, Advil 3x a day. Ice Ice Ice.
I am getting last minute stuff together for the Red Hats Luncheon on Friday. The Raffle basket goes to Deana today to get put together, I picked up a couple things, got the wine bottle, Pick up the One of a Kind Red Hat tomorrow. Picked up more flyers for the Luncheon, the Breast Cancer Services of Siskiyou County. Its coming together, I canceled the hike with Linda this morning, EEEEEEEEEEEK enough is enough, I have been at the gym on the bike and in the pool the past 3 days, and 25lb pack yesterday too. I will be at the Castle Craigs hike on Thursday, yoga today and Thursday. I feel like not going to yoga, but it just got changed to 7:30am instead of 9am and I was one of the big supporters of the time change.

Moving Forward

READY TO CLIMB FOR THE CAUSE Breast
cancer survivor Shirley Magnuson spoke last week at the Mount Shasta Chamber of Commerce meeting on her goal of raising $10,000 and climbing 14,162 foot Mt. Shasta when The Breast Cancer Fund Climb Against the Odds returns this June. The Climb attracts hundreds of people from around the world. “As the chosen climber from Siskiyou County, all of the money I raise stays here and benefits Breast Cancer Services of Siskiyou County,” Magnuson said. Breast Cancer Services provides a wide variety of free support services for those touched by the disease and their families. Donations can be made at http://www.breastcancerfund.org/climb09/shirleym. Checks can also be made out to the
Breast Cancer Fund and mailed to Shirley Magnuson, P.O. Box 434, Dunsmuir, CA, 96025. She can be reached directly at 235-4653.

I called Hillie yesterday to let her know about my fundraising progress for the Red Hats raffle basket. I totaled all the goodies up $750. worth, some stuff and lots of gift certificates. So we decided that was about what she had for her basket last year so I can start getting goodies for my next raffle event. Linda made me an appointment at the Wellness center with a physical therapist to look at my knee, 7 am today.

Yea!!! I DID IT:-)

Yesterday we went up Green Butte, well not all the way to the top of it, but pretty far. The winds were picking up. WOW, omygosh they were soo strong. Quite steep. Julie took this pic of me. The really steep part Linda got behind me and said "No stopping, if you have to look up, keep moving as you do so" I think it was a GOOD thing she was behind me. Then Julie was up above breaking trail guiding us. We thankfully didn't go down the same way, we went out and back and forth down, "milking it" Just amazing, fresh snow, lots of it:-) We stopped just a couple times for brief bites to eat and drink and kept moving. 3hrs, 5 miles. Sooo Proud:-)

I stopped and took this pic on my way up the canyon on my way to Bunny Flats.
This one is just before we went up farther, but we are looking over Black Butte, that just looks so kool I think.

Switching Gears Again:-)

The weekly long training hike canceled again. So I am going to hopefully meet with a couple of key fundraising people for a minute in Mt. Shasta first and then go back home and start up the hill toward Ney Springs. To make it more challenging I plan to take some of the old side logging skid trails, doing some hill work, and still strive for the 5hr. length.
Later this afternoon, I plan on making some phone calls to people I haven't heard from who said they had plans, fundraising plans for me, and see if maybe they need some help or whats going on now.

No Pack Today

Yesterday I did the same 20lb pack 2 times, yoga and a 3rd hike no pack. Well this morning I feel like someone ran over my left side, now I doubt I am the only one who has chosen not to have reconstructive surgery, but I may be the only one doing this that smoked for 42 years. My breast bone is bruised. OUCH!!! So on to something else for today and reevaluate it tomorrow.
I received Bonnie's Monthly support check, omygosh she is so cute, thankyou Bonnie:-)
